What is an Anglerfish Felted Alpaca Sculpture?

The Anglerfish Felted Alpaca Sculpture is part of our ocean collection. A collection that attempts to capture nature’s beauty in sea animals. Our Anglerfish Alpaca Fiber Sculpture is a realistic depiction, as their cool design tricks their prey into being lured toward the fish's head for a tasty meal.  She is made entirely by hand, and stretches several inches long. She comes in rich natural colors that reflect her colors in nature. Just like the live animals, these little ones do well in pods. We finish the Anglerfish Alpaca Fiber Sculpture with a loop for hanging or she may hang and play. Due to the hand crafting process, each piece is unique with slight variations. Faces are sewn and created with love.

  • Made using certified alpaca fiber
  • We pay special attention to each piece
  • Artistically handcrafted by Grupo de Madres

What Is Alpaca Fiber?

Alpaca was once considered a gift from the gods and the most important relic of the history of the Incas. Alpacas are camelids since they share genetic material with camels. However, they are one of the four native species native species to South America. There are two distinct breeds of these four-legged animals: the Huacaya alpaca and the Suri alpaca. The types of fiber derived from each of these types of alpacas are equally prized for different reasons. Fiber derived from alpacas can be either heavy or light depending on how it is spun, which means that it is ideal for a number of different kinds of products. Compared to sheep’s wool, alpaca fiber is considerably softer, and it is also more durable.

About Needle Felting?

Needle felting is a dry felting method generally using wool with its barbs that felt quickly and easily. We use alpaca for a softer and more artistic effect. This art form is quick, easy, inexpensive, requires very few tools, and takes up very little space. You can needle felt when you have just a few spare moments or for days at a time.  Please call us at 877-alpacas or click here to learn more.
