What Is Alpaca Fiber?
Alpaca was once considered a gift from the gods and the most important relic of Incan history. Alpacas are in the camelid family, sharing genetic material with the vicuña. They are one of the four South American camelids.
The two breeds of alpacas are: the Huacaya and the Suri. The types of fiber harvested from each of these breeds are equally prized for different reasons. Fiber derived from alpacas varies in weight depending on how it is spun, making it ideal for a number of different kinds of products. Compared to sheep’s wool, alpaca fiber is considerably softer, warmer and more breathable.

Quality inside and out! Alpacas perish due to harsh natural conditions usually from December to March. We treat the pelts with our special tanning process that yields the best hides for the best collection of alpaca. Each bear is filled with a hypoallergenic fiber and stitched by hand to give an expressive face. We embroider the nose and mouth by hand for a special expression every time. Our safety eyes are made with plastic to avoid corosion from any metal parts. Our bears are not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
